Millions in Minnesota! Nice …

Mall of America, Minn. – This Spring, the Minnesota State Lottery gave a few lucky members of their player’s club the chance to win prizes ranging from $10,000 to $1,000,000 in a Pick ‘Til You Win envelope promotion at the Mall of America.

All spring, the MN State Lottery held Scratch-O-Rama  “qualifying tournaments” at various venues across the state where eighteen finalists qualified for the Scratch-O-Rama Grand Finale Event at Mall of America in April. In addition to the finalists, two more contestants were chosen at Mall of America and given the chance to win big with just a scratch!

After three rounds of fast and furious scratching, Karen Fries of Redwood Falls got the chance to score the big bucks if she could locate the five matching $1,000,000 grand prize symbols before locating five of the second, third or fourth place symbols, playing Odds On Promotions’ Million Dollar Match Lucky Envelopes game.

According to Zak Woodhead, Risk Manager for Odds On Promotions, “What made this Million Dollar Match promotion is how the Lottery used insured prizes; they not only insured the grand prize of $1 million, but the 2nd place prize of $50,000 and the third place prize of $20,000, while self-insuring the $10,000 prize.”

Check out the great video about the event.

Baseball FanFest Promotion a Big Hit in Minnesota

Reno, Nev. – Baseball fans attending TwinsFest got the chance to win season tickets, paid for by Odds On Promotions, in a “Crack the Code” contest sponsored by a local sports radio station.

According to Chris Gardiner, who worked with the station to create the promotion, “As part of their participation in this popular ‘FanFest’ event, the station gave every attendee the chance to win a pair of Minnesota Twins season tickets, if they could pick a winning 5-digit number.”

And what exactly was the average fan’s response? According to a TwinsFest participant at the BallParkMagic blog:

It is worth the time at TwinsFest to wait in line for the AM1500 Crack the Code contest. You can listen to the radio stage interviews waiting your turn at entering a 5 digit guess to win season tickets (1 in a 100,000 chance). It seem (sic) to be over 95% got the consolation prize… a very nice beer glass with the inaugural season logo etched on it.

While it may have seemed like AM 1500 was handing out prizes to 95% of participants, in reality, the hand held unit was pre-programmed to award several consolation prizes to ensure a multiplicity of winners.

Builder Drives Traffic with $100K Prize!

Reno, Nev. –  This February, Heartland Homes gave the first 300 people to arrive at the grand opening of their “Summit at Cheat Lake” development the chance to win $100,000, paid for by Odds On Promotions.

The promotion, which was one of a number of events taking place during the grand opening festivities, had “would-be” homebuyers entering a six-digit number into Heartland’s “Lucky Number Machine” (aka one of Odds On’s hand held verification units) for a chance to win a $100,000 prize.

According to Odds On Promotions’ Sales Representative Chris Gardiner, “With competition for home-buyers at an all-time high, this offer is a real attention-getter. I mean, $100,000 makes for a substantial down payment on a new home. And, since Odds On writes the check when there’s a winner, it’s an affordable way to pique consumer interest, make your advertising more effective and ideally grab some free headlines along the way. Where I think Homeland was particularly smart was in offering a number of consolation prizes including flatscreen tvs – another great perk a would-be homebuyer can appreciate.

Post-it® Note Promo Drives Customers!

Newspaper Drives Traffic To Auto Dealer Located Half-Hour Away!
Allentown, Penn.  – Imagine customers so eager to get inside your showroom floor that before you even open they’re lining up waiting to get in … and willing to drive nearly thirty minutes to do so.

That’s what recently happened at Gateway Kia in Quakertown during a recent Post-it ® Note Posted Number promotion. The promotion gave readers of The Morning Call newspaper, based in Allentown, the chance to win a Kia Soul if the number appearing on a Post-it® note affixed to the front of their newspaper matched a number posted at Gateway Kia.

“The results from this “Notice-It” campaign surprised us. This dealership is on the fringe of our market area so we were pretty pleased when we learned that in just the first few hours on the first day, they not only had folks lining up, they had already sold two Kias,” stated Bill Kennedy, Auto Advertising Sales Director for The Morning Call.

Kennedy also reported that as of press time, the dealership was, “Very happy and just amazed by the distance people had traveled to participate. They’ve sold 8 cars and expect to sell more as they work through the remaining 275 leads”.

Season…of…Fortune!

This Fall, club members at the Grand Sierra could play in a daily FREE slot tournament featuring a  $777  Free Play prize pool, then, every Saturday the casino held a  weekly drawing for all the daily slot participants where 77 winners each received $100 in free play. Then, on December 19 the casino held a Grand Finale Qualifier Tournament where 27 Lucky Players got the chance to win $777,000 in a simultaneous “Lucky Envelope” contest that took place on the casino floor on December 20.   While no one took home the $777,000 grand prize, the casino awarded multiple cash consolation prizes to all of the participants.

Sales Rep Tara McClure: By offering players a daily free chance to win, followed by a weekly chance, leading up to a “Grand Finale” giveaway, the casino effectively drove traffic and kept players engaged at every turn.  I really liked that they held the final giveaway on the casino floor, where new players were sure to be asking … “How can I get in on the winning?”
